Creative Conscious- #Why Vote

In the run up to the UK’s next General Election, we want to encourage young people to use their voice through voting and engaging with democracy. We are looking for a suite of material, from examples of social media posts to printed posters, to answer the question “Why vote?” - encouraging voter registration and participation from young people, many of whom will be eligible to vote for the first time. The requirements of this brief is to create a poster or series of posters (A3 portrait), three graphics to be used together on social media (such as in an Instagram carousel) short video (can be animation), no more than 90 secs.

Younger generations do not interact with post that arrives through the letterbox. This means that campaign posters will be seen as rubbish and therefore discarded. Instead, Gen Z usually get excited by parcels and online deliveries that are arriving and will sit eagerly waiting for it’s arrival. Could this insight be used to create something more enticing that young adults look forward to recieving when they turn eighteen?

Voting is often overwhelming for young adults, with information spread across different mediums. My submission focuses on having information all in one place. To do this, I have created a box, designed as a birthday present, delivered in time for their 18th birthday. My explosion box unravels to reveal information you need to know before you vote.

Additionally, I have created a series of posters that build layers of stickers showcasing reasons why you should vote. Furthermore, two videos have been produced, with the intention of being played on their birthday as a gift to pair with the present box.
